Jack’s a Gray Jay. Jack’s always hungry, being an omnivore and all – he will eat anything. But once he must have tasted a ham sandwich, and he never forgot it. Ham sandwiches have become Jack’s favourite food. I did not know that ham sandwich was on Jack’s menu that afternoon, when we sat down for our picnic in Manning park. It was a beautiful day, and we enjoyed the sunshine and the nature around us, until nature decided to dive bomb us. Jack was there, up front, first in line. He and his brothers kept swooping down on us until I finally gave in and held up my ham sandwich. It was like someone rang the dinner bell – there was no stopping Jack at this point. Holding my D90 in one hand and the ham sandwich buffet in the other, I could only marvel at his acrobatics, his audacity, and his cuteness. I tried to take as many snaps as I could, but this one is that sums it up quite nicely: Jack and I having lunch.
There were no leftovers.
